Workshops

In these interactive workshop, students will be taught the basics of music production. This includes how to navigate Logic Pro X/GarageBand efficiently by learning the fundamental hotkeys and the layout of the program. They will learn how to record into their computers live as well as import different audio sources. We'll also cover the fundamentals of signal processing, focusing on creative ways to use compression and EQ to shape the sound they want. We will also take a look at using MIDI and Software Instruments to record instruments otherwise impossible to capture. 

In this workshop, students will learn the fundamentals of songwriting. We will start with writing a chord progression to build our song. Then we will look at writing some lyrics and possibly adding in a second instrument. From there we will look at how to arrange a song and once we’ve learned “the rules”, we can look at fun ways to bend and break those conventions. This workshop can also be used for students who enjoy writing poetry.
