Funhouse Music is the brainchild of Canadian musician Simon Gagné. A passionate multi-instrumentalist from a very young age, Simon has been bringing his versatile skills in songwriting, producing, performing, and speaking to a growing audience.

Funhouse Music’s sound travels across various genres. Influenced by Punk Rock staples like The Clash, New Wave heavy hitters like The Smiths and The Cure, and 90’s Slacker Rock like Dinasaur Jr, along with electronic pioneer Mort Garrson, IDM by Aphex Twin, Jungle from Pete Cannon, and sample based hip hop production from J Dilla and The Alchemist, has made Simon and Funhouse Music unique in their own right.

Simon received his first guitar at age 4 and began his lifelong obsession with all things music. He was self-taught throughout his childhood but took up classical guitar lessons as a teen. His classical guitar training and his level 7 RMC Music Theory combined with his natural ability and standout performance skills has continued to make Simon a sought-after talent.

In middle school, Simon began his adventure with Logic Pro X. At first it was a vehicle to create the music that is constantly playing on repeat in his head, but throughout high school it became the most fascinating part of music for him. This drove his decision to attend Canadore College’s Sound Engineering and Music Production program, graduating in 2023.

Today, Simon performs as the front man for two bands; the first is a two piece with a focus on performing Funhouse Music originals, the second is a punk rock band called Smooth Brains. He is currently working on new live sets with his bands, producing a Hip-Hop album, and writing new solo material. Moving forward, Simon sees himself continuing as a varied composer, ultimately writing music for film.
